When I look for cheap art or affordable art, I'm not looking for just a rolled up poster. I've done that route before and all that happened was the poster stayed in its original tube forever. It was a very impulsive purchase and I have since learned my lesson.
Allow to me explain my thought process and my experience, so that you may avoid the pitfalls yourself of purchasing posters online. My original intention was to take my cheap art print to a custom frame shop and choose a simple frame. I thought it was a fabulous idea and a great way to save money. Was I ever wrong! The cheap art showed up in its poster tube and I threw it into my trunk hoping to find a day (during my 50 hour work week) to buy a matching frame.

Months past before I walked into a custom frame shop and asked the framing expert how much it would cost to frame my cheap art and the answer was shocking. Not only was I bombarded with questions like, "Do I want a mat for my art, possibly a double mat with a v groove, what thickness frame am I considering and what about the frame colour?" Of course, there was the glass issue, non glare, regular or a treatment? When I tossed some ideas around, I was floored by the cost; hundreds of dollars to frame my cheap, sorry...affordable art. Needless to say, my poster remains in its tube although thankfully, my walls are no longer white.
I went back online again with a clear cut goal. I was looking for cheap art that was already framed. It wasn't as easy as I thought. There are dozens of websites promoting cheap art, but most of them do not include the frame. The custom framers out there must be having a field day! Oddly enough, most of these sites end up sending you to the same company. Talk about a monopoly.
But, I was determined to find affordable art with a frame already on it. During these economic times, everyone wants to save money. But equally important is saving time. I'm a working mother, with school age children who keep me running in all directions. I never get the time to browse the shops, for myself or for my home. But, I do love it when my home looks good.
Wall art, ideally with a simple frame that matches the art print and doesn't clash with my home décor is the perfect, affordable decorative accessory. Lets face it; painting is a huge undertaking and furniture costs a fortune. My solution to adding colour, style and design to my home is affordable framed art. I'll leave the posters to the teenagers!
